About Us
Birdhuntinfool is a family ran AKC labrador breeder! Our love of labradors has been brewing since the early 90’s. Our family hunts and plays in the water and our dogs can’t stay out of it. Our kids socialize with every puppy and we breed for a gentle disposition that is obedient and easy to train. Many of our pups find their way into a duck blind, upland game field, or hunting sheds in the hills. Many of our labs also point while upland hunting. Safe to say, our dogs like to work!!
Genetically, we prefer to breed english labs for their unique, blocky features and calm temperament along with excellent hips, elbows, and eyes bred in our lines. We also breed all colors recognized by AKC: yellow, chocolate, and black.

Puppy Deposits
To hold a puppy we require $300. If it’s for a future litter, we will accept deposits for up to 3 females and 3 males. After pups are born and we know exactly how many of each sex are in the litter, we will then accept more deposits on the litter. If the litter does not produce the particular sex and/or color desired, deposits will be refunded or can be "moved" to a future litter (whichever the buyer decides). Birdhuntinfool reserves the right to have 1st pick on any litter. All litters are listed on the upcoming litter page of our website once they are born.
Visitation Policy
The only way pups receive immunity to diseases and bacteria is through mother's milk. Pups can easily contract diseases and infections prior to vaccinations. Therefore, for the safety and health of our pups, we do not let anyone come to see pups until the pups have had their first vaccinations. NO EXCEPTIONS. Also, for the health and safety of our pets and yours, we DO NOT ALLOW anyone to bring their pets to "visit" or meet a potential new "family member." At 6 weeks old, pups get their first 5 way vaccinations. After pups reach 8 weeks old, they should be ready for their new homes for those that are picking up in person. All pups that are scheduled to fly somewhere are required to be at least 8 weeks old and full payment needs to be paid by the time the pups are 6 weeks (balance of puppy plus $480 for shipping). We reserve the right to hold a puppy longer than the age of 7 weeks old if we feel the puppy needs more time with litter-mates.
We DO NOT allow visitors to bring their pets to Birdhuntinfools to reduce the possibility of disease, infection, viruses and parasites.
How Pups Get Picked
Most of Birdhuntinfools' litters are spoken for before they are 8 weeks old. Lab pups don't start showing personality till they are around 6 weeks old, so generally we schedule you (in order of your "pick") to come pick out and pick up your new pup the 1st Saturday after they are 8 weeks old. We will not hold a puppy unless it has a $300 deposit placed on it.
After the pups receive their first vaccinations, the buyer(s) are contacted to set up a day and time to come and "pick out" their pup. If the buyer is unable to make a pick in person, we can certainly send photos and allow the buyer make their choice via email photos. If the buyer cannot make their choice within the specified amount of time (usually 1/2 hr) the seller allows, the buyer will then forfeit that position of pick to the next buyer.
Pups must be at least 8 weeks old before leaving their nursery at Birdhuntinfools **No Exceptions** If you are having a puppy shipped, the FAA requires that all pups be at least 8 weeks old to fly.
Our Guarantee
Purchase Agreement-Contract For Pet
A non-refundable deposit of $300.00 is required to place a “hold” on a specific pet. If the pet is not available (due to health, wrong gender or color), 100% of the deposit will be refunded. If the buyer decides to change their mind in regards to the purchase of the pup once the seller receives the deposit, the deposit will be forfeited by the buyer. All pups are sold with limited registration unless otherwise specified by the seller. Seller reserves the right to terminate the contract at any time prior to the placement of the pet for any reason.
We do not guarantee:
BirdHuntinFool does not guarantee the pet‘s: size, color, temperament or the ability to reproduce. Seller guarantees the health of the animal for two weeks from the take home date. The buyer will see a Vet for an appointment within that two week period.
Health:
Seller warrants that the above described pet is in good health visually at the time the buyer assumes ownership. Seller does not guarantee against ear mites, worms, parasites, viruses or bacterial infections or any other “genetic” or “congenital” defects other than against hip dysplasia at the time of sale or thereafter.
Buyer will have the above mentioned pet neutered or spayed by the time it reaches 12 months of age or this contract and any guarantee will be deemed null and void (unless sold with full registration).
All veterinarian expenses for a wellness check, possible life altering genetic defects, yearly exams or any veterinarian expenses incurred for the pet after 72 hours of assumed ownership while in the buyer’s possession is not the responsibility of the seller. Seller is not responsible for any vet expenses incurred by the pet or the buyer.
Seller does not assume any responsibility for the shipping costs if a pet is required to be shipped back into the seller’s possession.
Health Guarantee:
This guarantee is for a replacement pup and not for returned monies.
If a diagnosis of a heart murmur should occur before the pet turns 1 year of age, the breeder must be contacted immediately to discuss the issues. If the breeder is not contacted prior to treatment, this contract will be deemed null and void. The buyer is financially responsible for any treatments, medications and hospitalizations provided by the vet services for the pet.
Seller does not assume any liability for any injury or sickness on the buyer’s property once the pet is in the possession of the buyer.
All age appropriate vaccinations and de-worming medications have been administered to the pet being sold/purchased.
The buyer agrees to maintain the pet’s health in good condition and to provide yearly examinations, vaccinations, heart-worm test and any other usual procedures necessary to assure good health of the pet. The buyer agrees to provide a suitable areas for this pet to have adequate food, shelter and to be housed securely.
Due to our continued GENETIC HEALTH TESTING, Birdhuntinfool can guarantee no pups sold can be affected by EIC, PRA OR CNM.
Hip Guarantee:
This hip guarantee is valid until the pet reaches the age of 26 month. For this guarantee to be valid, the pet must not have been bred or have sired a litter.
It is understood that hip dysplasia can be caused by poor nutrition or injury and that the pet is guaranteed to the extent of genetic hip dysplasia only.
In the event of genetic hip dysplasia that warrants euthanization of the pet before the age of 26 months, the seller agrees to replace said pet with a pet of the same quality.
We do not guarantee against elbow dysplasia.
Replacement pup information:
For the replacement pet to be placed, the following terms must be met:
- Buyer notifies the seller promptly after such condition is diagnosed(if heart murmur, buyer must contact the breeder before the pup reaches the age of one year old. If the pet is deemed to have hip dysplasia, the breeder must be contacted prior to the pup reaching the age of 26 months).
- A copy of OFA’s refusal must be sent to the seller (if there is a “hip issue”)
- The pet must not have been bred or sired a litter.
- The buyer’s must provide the seller with a written statement from a licensed vet stating that the pet was spayed or neutered.
- Buyer must return puppy to seller immediately (providing all transportation and costs incurred to do so).
If at any time the buyer decides to relinquish ownership of the pet, Birdhuntinfool must be notified and given the right to first refusal.
